Jaguar C-X16

The Jaguar C-X16 production concept will make its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13.

Designed by the same team that produced the Jaguar XJ, XF and XK – headed by Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum – the C-X16 concept is a precursor to future Jaguar sports cars that will aim to set new class benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology.

As the concept neared completion Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars commented: 'Great Jaguars have always been beautiful, innovative and have looked firmly to the future. The finished C-X16 concept has the potential to do these things while retaining the ability to surprise, to excite and invigorate.'

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars commented: 'Jaguar has set in place bold, ambitious plans for the future.  This production concept demonstrates the depth of design and engineering ability we have within Jaguar to make these plans come to life – I look forward to sharing this latest, exciting step at the Frankfurt Motor Show.'

Jaguar XKR-S

The XKR-S takes the Jaguar sports car experience to soaring new heights, with adrenaline-pumping performance, driver-focused technologies and assertive, sporting design.

The sporting pedigree of the XKR-S is reflected in its dramatic appearance. Exterior styling changes include a host of modifications that improve aerodynamics and stability at high speed. Inside the cabin, features such as new Performance seats featuring unique carbon leather and contrasting micro-piping and stitching, create the perfect environment for enjoying an exceptional driving experience.

UPRATED 5.0 LITRE SUPERCHARGED AJ-V8 GEN III R ENGINE

The XK range’s highly efficient 5.0 litre V8 supercharged engine has been extensively recalibrated for the new XKR-S, making it the most powerful Jaguar road engine ever produced. Power output has been increased to 550PS and maximum torque now reaches 680Nm, giving the XKR-S a top speed of 186mph (300kph) with acceleration from 0 to 60mph in just 4.2 seconds (0–100kph in 4.4 seconds).

SUPERIOR DRIVING DYNAMICS

A combination of lightweight aluminium body construction and revised suspension settings delivers pin-sharp handling and supreme control. The re-engineered front suspension features a fully-machined aluminium upright that significantly increases camber and castor stiffness for precise steering with greater driver-connection and responsiveness. The rear suspension geometry has also been revised for increased camber stiffness, and spring and damper rates have been revised at both ends of the car.

SPORTS PERFORMANCE EXHAUST

A unique tuning to its Performance Active Exhaust provides the XKR-S with a distinctive and deeply satisfying aural signature.

PERFORMANCE STYLING

The unique front design features twin nacelles, side intakes, and carbon fibre splitter and lower spoiler. Horizontal slots in the leading edge of the bonnet reduce heat and underbonnet lift. Extended side sills accentuate the car’s ground-hugging contours, and a unique rear wing with carbon fibre inlay and distinctive rear apron with a carbon fibre rear diffuser balance front and rear lift.

Jaguar C - X75

A four wheel drive, range-extended, electric, two-seater supercar celebrating 75 years of Jaguar design and innovation.

The 330km/h (205mph) four-wheel drive supercar is capable of reaching 100km/h (62mph) from rest in 3.4 seconds with zero tailpipe emissions during urban use, exploring the outer limits of both performance and sustainability.

Sustainable cutting-edge technologies – C-X75 has a zero tailpipe emissions range of 110km (68 miles) while running solely on battery power. As a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle, C-X75 removes the anxiety that currently hinders the mainstream adoption of electric vehicles. The innovative twin turbines can either charge the car’s batteries, allowing the supercar to travel 900km (560 miles) on a single tank or, in Track mode, automatically provide supplementary power directly to the electric motors to allow the car to reach 330kph (205mph)

Car and driver synergy – The car and driver become one through the use of theatrical interaction. The touchscreen Jaguar Co-Pilot interface manages the information workload between car and driver while a dramatic entrance to the car is created by striking electro-luminescent wire lighting, which alters to enhance the driving experience. The interior blends traditional, hand-tailored leathers with textured neoprene panels and two different aluminium finishes.

.

What were the main influences for this car?

Inspiration was taken from the 1966 XJ13 prototype Le Mans racer, which, like the C-X75 showcased an entirely new powerplant. There are also influences from fighter aircraft in the way the cabin is tailored around the driver and the information is managed by the Jaguar Co-Pilot system.

Does this signal a change in Jaguar’s Design DNA?

C-X75 shows an evolution of current Jaguar design. Some of the C-X75 cues are familiar from our current vehicle range and the concept also shows how we can evolve our current design for the future and how technology can be integrated into future designs.

Does c-X75 pave the Way for a new production vehicle?

No. C-X75 is a concept to mark 75 years of producing beautiful, fast cars.

What propulsion system is in the c-X75 concept?

The C-X75’s 580kW (780bhp) propulsion system has a 145kW (195bhp) electric motor at each wheel.

At the centre of the car sit two state-of-the-art, micro gas-turbines. Each turbine can generate 70kW, enough to sustain the car at 100mph. Combine both together and the car will maintain 120mph. Cruising below these speeds will ensure the batteries are charged and extend the range of the car to 900km (560 miles) – enough to get from London to Berlin on a single tank. In Track mode the turbines supplement the batteries to deliver peak power directly to the electric motors and push the car to 205mph.

The four electric motors provide torque-vectored, all-wheel drive traction and grip, essential in a car that produces 580kW (780bhp) and 1600Nm (1180lb ft) of torque.

How is the car charged?

You simply plug it in. A six-hour charge from a domestic outlet provides a range of 110km (68 miles).

What fuel economy and co2 emissions can we expect?

A zero tailpipe emissions range of 110km (68 miles) while running solely on battery power

By capitalising on its plug-in charge capability the C-X75 will produce just 28 grams of CO2 per kilometre on the EU test cycle.

XF Estate

A fastback, sporting estate version of the XF is in Jaguars future product plan, with a production date slated for around 2012.

Estate versions of the XFs main rivals, the Audi A6, BMW 5-series and Mercedes E-class, all sell well and in the UK make the difference between the XF being the third best-seller in its class rather than market leader.

For several years after the launch of the load-lugging X-type, the words estate and Jaguar appeared to be banned from appearing in the same sentence, but now that the X-type has been killed off, the idea of a Jaguar estate is acceptable again inside the company.

But this wont be some sort of Volvo-style load lugger. Expect elegant styling incorporating a shade more practicality to be the defining features.
